New Year, New Outfit, New You

Hi gang! Today I’ve got a post for you all about new year fashion! Hope you enjoy

Sometimes the best way to kick off a new year is with a new outfit, and we have an excellent recommendation in store. Below, we’ve compiled several pieces that will coordinate when worn together, but will still look equally as great as separates. Crafting an edgy and trendy, yet completely wearable, ensemble is our goal, and we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

The Hat

Hats are a great but sometimes-overlooked accessory that can bring your look to the next level. Rather than opting for the typical cold weather beanie or baseball cap, we’ve chosen a wide brim bowler hat. As recommended by Glamour magazine’s list, the black wool Jane bowler pictured above from Joie is guaranteed to turn heads while still offering lots of functionality and seasonal warmth.

The Scarf

Plaid is a classic winter pattern, but thanks to the resurgence of flannel tops, it’s back in a big way. The beautiful and bright large black and red scarf from J. Crew will add the perfect pop of colour to this otherwise monochrome look. Wrap it loosely around your neck and pair it with the coat below for a look that’s comfy, warm, and stylish.

The Dress

Cable knit dresses are practically everywhere you turn this season, and with good reason. Whether it’s loose or figure hugging, these simple pieces add a lot of style to every wardrobe without a lot of effort. Great for busy mornings or days when you don’t want to spend much time worrying about what to wear, this dark gray cable knit sweater dress from Gap is the perfect choice to add to your winter wardrobe.

The Coat

Look ravishing in red with this Fiona statement coat pictured above from Hobbs. The sleek contemporary design will balance out the chunky and heavy weight of the other elements in this outfit. This, along with the plaid scarf, will frame your face beautifully and pair well with the other neutral elements.

The Tights

Legwear presents the perfect opportunity to get playful. Textured and printed tights are a fun way to inject a little personality into an outfit and the black and gray Melange plaid tights from DKNY would look great paired with the elements from our suggested outfit. Couple these with our sweater dress, along with shorts and miniskirts, for a cute and trendy outfit.

The Boots

Combat boots are on Cosmopolitan magazine’s must-have list. The flat, chunky shoes are a throwback nod to the ’90s but add instant edge to any outfit, especially the one we’ve chosen for this article. Great with sweater dresses like the one pictured, they would also look sweet with ripped skinny jeans, pencil skirts, and more. The work boot style combat boot with a cosy fleece foldover cuff pictured above from Timberland is easy to locate thanks to Lyst, and it’s sure to keep you warm while looking hot.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our trendy and super-cute winter outfit suggestion. Remember that these individual pieces can be combined into one ensemble, or worn separately for a unique look. Now that you have some inspiration for a new outfit to ring in the New Year, we hope you’ll have lots of fun putting together one of your own.
