On Rotation

It feels like forever ago since I last updated you all on my beauty favourites. The last time I spoke about what I was using on my fizzog was back in July, so really, you are in fact due for an update. My feelings about makeup have mostly remained the same; I no longer strive to own every product under the sun and have found some contentment in owning a solid set of products that make me happy. I go through my small collection a lot more vigorously to ditch the products that have hung around for a questionable amount of time (I'm looking at you Benefit Boxed Blushers).

In the past few months, there have been some products that I've been really enjoying putting all over my face. So I have a few makeup and skincare products to discuss, so get comfortable and grab a brew (and your wallet, thanks)

Let us begin with a good bit of skincare, shall we? I feel I have settled into a fairly good winter skincare routine that seems to be working for me. For a bit of background, my skin is combination/oily and can suffer from dehydration. I get spots around my jawline regularly, but I am also partial to some cheek and nose spots, apparently. Breakouts tend to be period focused, which is hard to track as I've been on contraception for years.

I have 100% fallen hard in love with Deciem, and basically the entire range by The Ordinary. I had a half-written post back in the depths of my drafts with some initial views on the products, but since then I've made multiple more purchases and have definitely refined my favourites. Of what I've bought so far, the standouts are the hyaluronic acid and the salicylic acid. I use the SA in the morning and the HA in the evening, to give my skin a much-needed boost of hydration. So far, my skin has loved this and really not had any ~serious~ breakouts since. Can I get a hell yeah?

Moisturiser wise, I ended up with an old favourite - Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. I have vivid memories of every beauty YouTuber telling me how amazing this was. I picked it up 3 or 4 years ago and liked it, but it wasn't much to write home about. Now, since my skin is more dehydrated, I love it. It's hydrating and lovely and basically everything you'd ever need in a moisturiser.

For the final skincare product, I have to include the newest product into my routine, the Khiel's Creamy Eye Treatment. I've always been flakey when it comes to eye creams. I know that they are an essential part of a good evening routine, but I've never found one that wowed me. There is something about this that made me go, yep, this is the one for me. Maybe it's the fact it's made with avocado that pleases the basic bitch in me?  Whatever it is, I absolutely love applying it. I've found it has helped to reduce my dark circles, which never goes amiss. It's a thick product, so does need some working in, but I feel like it's going to last for an absolute age. Totally worth the money.

Makeup wise, I still favour an eyeliner flick, glowing skin and messy brows. On the base front, I have been loving the Glossier Stretch Concealer. I was so ready to not like Glossier, like so ready. There was so much hype around all of the products and I just felt so, well blasé about their whole launch. My pal Helen ordered some products for me and my mind was almost immediately changed. The concealer manages to cover up blemishes or dark circles and make it look like you're wearing next to no makeup. Don't ask me how that works, but it does and I'm in awe. It's a really stiff formula, but once on the skin, it meshes with it perfectly.

Base of the moment goes to BareMinerals Complexion Rescue. It's an amazing mix of skincare and makeup that leave my skin with a juicy looking glow. It's become my perfect weekend foundation, as I prefer something with a little more longevity for work. I apply this with a foundation brush from Real Techniques and it's been hitting the good spot.

My brows have been a constant struggle over the years. I've tried all manner of products to give that sharp, angular brow. Only to discover that, well, I actually don't like that look on me. I've gone back to using the Sleek brow kit (throwback) to create my brow shape, but then adding the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara on, and making sure you can actually see the real hairs. I drag the product up through the brow, and kind of messily shape it. I'm really happy with it now!

Dan bought the NARS Loaded Palette for me at Christmas and I have barely taken my makeup brush away from it. I'm a sucker for an orange-brown eyeshadow, and this palette is basically the dream for this. My favourite colours are Castille and Alnwick (aka the middle two).

Ah Glossier again, I'll apologise. The Balm Dot Com is something that has barely come off my lips in the last month. So much so I've also ordered birthday cake. But the coconut one is a delight. I often find lipstick makes me feel too "done" for work. So lip balm has been my go to for a while, but this one. It just works so well. Normally in winter my lips will crack or be scaly. But right now they look their summer best. Probably my top pick!

So there you have it - my current beauty rotation. As always, what else do I need to try? I'm in the market for a new work foundation (think medium coverage and long-lasting) - what do I need to try?
